Crazy Cinnamon Roll Crust Apple Pie
Fun to do something different with my go-to apple pie recipe. BUT, it was really only yummy day-of. So, that works perfectly if it's gonna be gobbled up by your family at Thanksgiving! Day 2, the cinnamon roll crust was sort of just chewy and not appetizing. But it was sweet as heck and certainly a conversation starter! LOL!
You just cut packaged cinnamon rolls into slices and roll them out:
Put them together to form the bottom crust:
Fill with your favorite apple filling (I use my own adjusted version of The Joy of Cooking's apple pie recipe), but I cut the sugar and upped the citrus to account for this super-sweet crust:
Then put more rolled cinnamon roll slices on top:
Then bake and drizzle with the icing that comes with the cinnamon rolls. :)
